I Am A Princess….

Yes, you read that right. Ok, so my crown is a little crooked, but I’m still a Princess.

This post is inspired by a book my lovely friend Karen gave me, Keeping a Princess Heart in a Not So Fairy Tale World, by Nicole Johnson.

(Yes, ANOTHER book.)

No, I don’t live in a castle, I’m not waited on by servants, I don’t sit on my throne all day and give audience to the ‘commoners’, but I AM God’s Princess.

You see, we had it right when we were little girls. We just knew Princesses were real, castles were real, Prince Charming would come along and we’d live happily ever after. Our adult experiences has taught us this isn’t true, but why isn’t it? Because we don’t act like Princesses? We lowered our expectations?

How would a Princess act? She’d be on her best behavior at all times, well mannered. She’d be well dressed, neat and clean. She’d be quiet but educated, she’d speak in tones of kindness, gentleness, never anger. She’d be a “Proverbs 31 Woman“. She’d be gracious, admirable. She’d reach out to those around her and never utter a complaint.

Ok…back to the real world.

The truth is, we should all be Princesses. Well, those of us of the feminine persuasion anyway, if you guys want to be Princesses, you’re on your own.

Would a Princess live in clutter and mess? Nope. Her environment would be clean and orderly, relaxing.

Would a Princess wear grungy old clothes just because she’s going to work? Nope. She’d try to look her best no matter WHERE she was going.

Would a Princess fail to shave her legs just because…who’s gonna know? Nope. SHE’D know.

Would a Princess give all she has to one man who can’t return her feelings? Definately no…she’d be waiting for a man to EARN her hand.

Would a Princess fight back when someone verbally attacks her? Nope. She’d know that if someone really feels that way then that person is of little consequence.

Would a Princess run around like a chicken with its head cut off, always too busy, always flustered? Nope. The Princesses time is important and she takes her time to do the things she needs to do RIGHT.

Would a Princess collapse in bed at night too tired to take her makeup off and put some lotion on? Nope. The Princess takes good care of herself. SHE’S WORTH IT.

We can’t all be perfect, all the time. We can’t get it all done, we can’t always look and behave perfectly. But darnit…if we want to be treated like a Princess, then we have to ACT like one!

This Princess now needs to go scrub two bathrooms, fix the younger Prince and Princess some dinner and start some laundry now that she finally has water for the first time in two months.

Coming soon….Faith, Hope and Love, and some recipes!

“In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15

I will eventually learn this. I don’t know what is wrong with me lately but I’ve gotten SO angry over some of the dumbest things. Granted some of them may be justifiable, but the anger doesn’t solve anything, it just makes me into crazy psycho chick. It makes me irrational. It makes me make bad decisions, bad choices. So there you have it. I’m human after all.
